The paper presents the results of our own investigation of abnormal methylation of tumor suppressor genes RASSF1A, P16, CDH1, LAMC3, DAPK in tumors and non-tumor tissues obtained from 64 patients with superficial bladder cancer. The purpose of the research is to determine the participation of adjacent non-tumor tissue in the «field cancerization» in the genesis of urothelial carcinomas. We present experimental evidence and analysis of the literature, confirming the possibility of urothelial carcinoma arising to the formation of the «field cancerization», which is the consistent complex of the tumor and non-tumor tissue.
