Нейродегенеративные заболевания (НДЗ) представляют собой группу патологических состояний нервной системы, для ко- торых характерны прогрессирующая гибель нервных клеток и постепенно нарастающая атрофия соответствующих отделов головного или спинного мозга. Поскольку в развитых странах мира наблюдается повышение средней продолжительности жиз- ни, частота НДЗ также имеет выраженную тенденцию к увеличению. В настоящее время лечение НДЗ остается низкоэффек- тивным, особенно на поздних стадиях. Борьба с патологией нервной системы включена в список глобальных проблем, стоящих перед человечеством в XXI веке; для их решения организованы финансируемые программы по всему миру. Развитие регенератив- ной медицины позволит в ближайшем будущем разработать новые технологии диагностики и лечения НДЗ. В обзоре приведены приоритетные данные о перспективности применения трансплантации мезенхимальных стволовых клеток в качестве заме- стительной терапии для лечения НДЗ.
