THE ROLE OF AROMATASE EXPRESSION IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF GENITAL ENDOMETRIOSIS
The role of aromatase P450 in the pathogenesis of external genital endometriosis (IEG) has been investigated. 45 women with endometriosis
have been included in the study, the group of comparison was consisted of 9 healthy women. The examination included a laparoscopy and
hysteroscopy, in which in endometriosis patients removal of endometrioid heterotopias on pelvic peritoneum was performed, and in healthy
women endometrial biopsy for histological and immunohistochemical studies was carried out. In the course of the immunohistochemical
study, the expression levels of aromatase in endometrioid heterotopia and in the endometrium of healthy women was evaluated. The high
degree of expression of aromatase in endometrial foci was noted, while, in the endometrium of healthy patients the enzyme is not practically
determined with the use of immunohistochemical methods.
