This article reviews loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technique that since its invention in 2000 has gradually become one of the most popular isothermal amplification technologies. In this paper, we described the mechanism of LAMP reaction, different detection methods and discussed the advantages and limitations of theassay. Brief descriptions of LAMP modifications for RNA detection, search for multiple targets (multiplex) and DNA quantificationwere given.This review showed future perspectives of LAMP application as a potential rapid diagnostic test.
