MOLECULAR AND MORPHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF PREOPERATIVE HYPOFRACTIONATION FOR RECTAL CANCER

Introduction. Radiotherapy becomes a standard of combination treatment of the rectal cancer. That is why the development of its pathogenetical bases is very impotent. The aim of the study. The purpose of the study was to analyze molecular and morphological effects of preoperative hypofractionation for resectable rectal cancer. Methods. 55 patients received preoperative radiotherapy with the Teratron system and Varian Unique low-energy linear accelerator. Tumor tissues obtained during surgery were studied. DNAs in tumor cells were analyzed (CycleTEST PLUS DNA ReagentKit), as well as therapeutic pathomorphosis and the rate of postoperative complications. Results.
