Introduction. Recent reports have demonstrated patients with malignant neoplasias have different molecular genetic aberrations. But there are few data available concerning patients with multiple primary tumors (MPT). Aim. To study molecular genetic alterations of AURKA gene in MPT and in gastric cancer (GC) patients. Methods. The study by interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (I-FISH) with the use of the commercial AURKA DNA probe (Vysis, USA) was carried out. Results. Samples of tumor tissue of 32 MPT patients and 28 GC patients were analyzed. 100% of patients were shown to have numerous alterations of AURKA in tumor cells. The subgroup of patients having tumor cells with 10 and more copies of AURKA differs significantly from the subgroup of cases without such cells, both group of MPT patients (median М=3,75, χ2=20,71; p
