Buccal epithelium (BE) is an easily accessible target for molecular diagnosis of various diseases, and non-invasive way to get it is possible. This review summarizes the results of studies indicating a change in the expression of various signaling molecules and electrokinetic characteristics of BE in pathological processes, and evaluation of a biological age of human beings. Found that the BE has been established to be informative material in the diagnosis of a number of socially significant diseases, including immune pathology, bronchial asthma, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, tumor growth and metabolic disorders.
